You are important to me

hiking in fall

"You are important to me." One of our friends said this to us recently, and it has really resonated with me. Making time for friends has been the special glue that is helping us through the pandemic. And it is hard work! Even in the best of times, we are all busy with work, family, and kids. We have to be even more creative to spend time with everyone when it seems the rules are always changing. We are bombarded with new information almost daily about how we can and can't keep our loved ones safe.

The summer was so much easier. We spent most of the summer outdoors and developed a new appreciation for being outside. Poet and Flower love playing with their friends and exploring the outdoors with them. Together they love to play in the backyard, go hiking, jump in the creek and ride their bikes. We have explored every park near us, walked a lot of hiking trails, and explored the best places to splash in a creek.

As we move into fall and winter, we want to continue to spend time with our friends. Sweaters, warm blankets, and a few heaters hopefully will carry us through the season, or at least fall. G has taken to working on the patio with not just one but two heaters keeping him warm. Flower has a new love for sweaters and loves wearing layers. Poet loves wearing shorts and a t-shirt and no socks. No amount of cajoling can make him change his mind.

As we move through the seasons, we will hold onto our friendships and hopefully forge ahead.
